Dachshund

Dachshunds are clever, courageous, and independent. While they are devoted to their families, they can be vocal and may be wary of strangers. Their hunting heritage gives them a strong prey drive and a surprisingly loud bark for their size. They are often described as having a 'big dog' attitude.

Dachshunds require high-quality food, but obesity is a major health risk as it puts strain on their long spine. Accurate portioning is essential. Typically, 1/2 to 1 cup of dry food daily is sufficient, depending on their size and activity level.

Dachshunds are well-suited for apartment living. They are indoor dogs that require a safe environment free from high jumping hazards. While they enjoy a yard, it must be escape-proof. They are social and prefer to live with their family.
